Dr. Olanrewaju Sam Olayeriju joined the Department as a Lecturer II in 2019 and currently serves as the Departmental’s Level coordinator (100 level). He holds PhD degree in Applied Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology Akure.

His research interests include investigation of the nephroprotective potentials of some indigenous medicinal plants in different models of nephrotoxicity with a pointer to the active ingredients in the plants. Notable among them was the elucidation of the compounds in Triclisia gilletii responsible for its nephroprotective properties using HPLC-MS and GC-MS analysis.

He has strong skills in vitro antioxidant studies and in vivo animal studies and other bench-top assays. He has published about 10 articles in leading international journals.
