Dr. Abdulkabir Oladele Oladimeji, a seeding lab awardee, joined the Department as a Lecturer I in 2015 and currently serves as the acting head of Department of Chemical Sciences. He holds PhD degree in Organic Chemistry from University of Ibadan and had his postdoctoral training at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Pakistan in 2016.

His research interests include isolation and structure elucidation of new natural products. He has discovered a number of bioactive constituents from plants. Notably among them was the discovery of new antioxidant compounds, Reflevone, dioclin A and dioclin B from a medicinal plant Dioclea reflexa.

He has published more than 20 articles in leading international journals.

He has attended several training courses and mini workshops on spectroscopy and drug design research. He is a recipient of prestigious international fellowship awards viz:  COMSTECH- Consortium of Excellence (CCoE), TWAS-ICCBS and TWAS-CSIR. He is also an associate member of reputable Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and Society of Essential oil Distillers and Association (SEODAN).
