    Department of Public Administration

    Brief History of the Department

    The Department of Public Administration was established on September 6, 2024, following the approval of the School of Management Sciences for academic operations by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The department was created to address a range of academic, professional, and societal needs, including:

    • Training Public Sector Professionals: Preparing students for careers in public administration and related fields.
    • Research and Knowledge Development: Engaging in research that contributes to the body of knowledge in public administration.
    • Promoting Good Governance: Advocating for practices that enhance transparency, accountability, and ethical governance.
    • Support for Policy-Making and Reform: Assisting in the development and implementation of effective public policies.
    • Developing Analytical and Managerial Skills: Equipping students with the skills necessary to analyze complex issues and manage public sector organizations effectively.
    • Responding to Societal Needs: Addressing the challenges faced by communities and ensuring that public administration meets the needs of society.

    The establishment of the department reflects a commitment to preparing future leaders capable of navigating and improving public sector organizations, thereby contributing to a more effective and equitable society. Teaching within the Department of Public Administration is consistently rated as excellent, with course modules designed to prepare students for a lifetime of professionalism.

     

    Vision

    The program shall provide students with knowledge and skills base for further studies in Public Administration studies with emphasis to cultivate leaders, innovators, and ethical practitioners in public administration who are committed to advancing transparent, efficient, and equitable governance that addresses societal needs at local, national, and global levels.

     

    Mission

    The mission of the Department of Public Administration is to provide high-quality education, research, and community engagement that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to excel in public service roles. Through a curriculum grounded in policy analysis, public management, ethics, and leadership, the program aims to Educate and Empower Future Leaders; Promote Public Service Values; Advance Knowledge and Innovation in Governance; Engage with Communities and Stakeholders Support Good Governance and Policy Development.

    Through these objectives, the Public Administration Program aims to make a positive impact by developing public servants who are prepared to lead with expertise, vision, and a commitment to the public good.

    About OAUSTECH

    Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by the Ondo State government in 2008. It was initially named as Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).

    It is a technology-based institution, which aims at providing the needed manpower training for industrial and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.
