Brief History of the Department

The Department of Accounting at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH) was officially established on October 6, 2022, following the approval of the School of Management Sciences for academic operations by the National Universities Commission (NUC). This marked a significant milestone in the university's academic journey.

In its inaugural academic session, the department welcomed 30 pioneer students for the 2022/2023 academic year. These students were formally matriculated on May 25, 2023, marking their official entry into the program.

The Department of Accounting was founded with a clear mandate: to train and produce professionals capable of making a positive impact in various sectors and organizations. The teaching quality within the department is consistently rated as excellent, with course modules designed to equip students for a lifetime of professionalism and success in their careers.

Vision

The program shall provide students with knowledge and skills base for further studies in Accounting or multi-disciplinary studies with emphasis on quantitative approach in financial statement analysis, managerial decision making and to be one of the best Departments of Accounting in Africa committed to Excellence in providing students with requisite knowledge skill and ethical value for outstanding accounting practice. 

Mission

The mission of the Department of Accounting is to prepare a diverse student body for careers in industry, public accounting, and the nonprofit sector. We aim to equip students with the theoretical, technical, and ethical foundations necessary for excellence in accounting. Our goal is to produce leaders who enhance organizational competitiveness through effective financial analysis and communication, achieved via innovative instruction in an inclusive, student-focused environment.
