LIST OF STAFF
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Information and Public Relations Directorate came into existence as a Unit in 2011 during the tenure of Prof. Tolu Odugbemi (OON, NNOM, FAS), as the Vice-Chancellor of the University, in his desire to keep the staff and students of the University abreast of happenings in the University and boost the administrative machinery therein.
PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
The biological roles of plants, as the primary producers on which all other consumers depend upon to thrive and the increasing use of plants and plant products in the area of biotechnology to improve human health and the environment, make them an important and indispensable component of the ecosystem. This makes the scientific study of plants to the benefit of humankind inevitable. It is, therefore, crucial and imperative to train and produce graduates that will be able to manage the plants in a sustainable manner, promote plant diversity and modification, ensure plant conservation and encourage technology transfer. These are global mandates on plant genetic resources which this programme also intend to pursue.
In pursuance of these mandates, it is the philosophy of the programme to promote effective teaching, learning and meaningful researches in the best tradition of Botany, to produce graduates who will use their acquired knowledge on plants to solve the world’s social, economic and ecological problems within the context of sustainable development.

PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
The B.Sc. Zoology is one of the disciplines in the world that deal with scientific study of animals, which includes man and their related sciences.
The need for man to know the relationships and interactions among animals and between animals and their environments cannot be over emphasized. This knowledge is essential for effective management, improvement and utilization of the animal resources.
The areas of Zoology include animal anatomy, physiology, histology, taxonomy genetics etc., which cut across all groups of animals (vertebrates and invertebrates) in their different habitats.
The Zoology programme of the University is designed to fulfil these academic responsibilities by training students in the discipline to become professionals and contribute its rightful share in relieving the shortages of food production, environmental conservation, veterinary and paramedical personnel, competent teachers and research workers in Zoology.
In addition to producing graduates of Zoology, the programme will service students from other science-based Schools of the University.
