Aiyedatiwa, who contested under the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes.

Ologunorisa praised Aiyedatiwa's leadership and vision for Ondo State, stating that his excellence is a testament to his dedication to the people of the state. The VC expressed optimism about the governor's ability to drive growth and development in the state, citing his commitment to addressing pressing issues such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and security.
He hailed Aiyedatiwa's victory as a significant milestone for the APC in Ondo State and the good people of Ondo State, saying the governor has always pledged to work tirelessly to address the state's challenges and create a brighter future for its citizens.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the potential impact of Aiyedatiwa's victory on OAUSTECH, particularly as the university embarks on maritime programmes at Ugbo Nla next year. He noted that the governor's commitment to keying Ondo State into the Blue Economy would benefit the university.
"His Excellency's commitment to keying Ondo State into the Blue Economy will translate into uplift of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology," he concluded.
