Prof. Ologunorisa made the appeal during the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Tertiary Institutions' oversight visit to OAUSTECH on September 12, 2024. He highlighted the National Universities Commission's (NUC) approval of new programs, including Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and others, starting in the 2024/2025 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for more infrastructure to accommodate the increasing student population, as OAUSTECH has become a preferred institution for admission seekers. He urged the committee to appeal to Governor Aiyedatiwa to ensure the speedy completion of the Maritime Academy at Ugbo Nla by OSOPADEC.
Prof. Ologunorisa also requested the release of the one billion Naira allocated in the 2024 budget to complete the iconic School of Science Building, abandoned for years. He called on OSOPADEC and NDDC to complete the abandoned student hostels.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for prompt payment of monthly subvention and the wage award to OAUSTECH. He urged the Governor to intervene in the NDDC and OSOPADEC abandoned projects and ensure the contractor handling the 2.5 km road construction returns to site.
Responding, the ODHA committee chairman, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, commended Prof. Ologunorisa for his good work and assured that decisive actions would be taken to complete the OSOPADEC and NDDC projects. Hon.
