    The student Affairs Office is established to offer supportive services that will facilitate the removal of all hindrances to effective learning situations; whatever it is that could hinder students from performing at the best of their abilities.

    This Division of the Vice-Chancellor’s office which deals with the coordination of student affairs is headed by professor with the title “Dean of Students Affairs”. He reports to the Vice-Chancellor for the effective execution of those policies formulated by Student Welfare Board and approved by the Vice-Chancellor.

    Since inception of the student affairs office, the following has been appointed as the Dean of Students’ Affairs:

    1. A.A. Obadofin  -     2014 - 2017
    2. I.I. Oguntimehin  -  2017 - 2021
    3. O.I. Faleyimu  -  2021 - till date

    The student Affairs Office has the following units

    1. Accommodation
    2. Identification, scholarship, loans and bursaries
    3. Guidance, counselling and monitoring
    4. Students’ Activities
    5. NYSC Mobilization
    6. Student welfare unit
    7. Off Campus Bureau and statistic unit

    In addition, the office take part in the activities of the university committees relating to students matters.

    ACCOMMODATION

    The University Hostels are not ready for students’ occupation. Hence, the students rent houses around the university. The Students’ Affairs office keeps a ledger that contain names, phone numbers, programs and home addresses of every student in the University. The Students’ Affairs office sometimes visits students in their houses to see their welfare. When there is a challenge to their health, they are advised to go to the school Health Centre to see the Doctor.

    GUIDANCE, COUNSELLING AND MONITORING

    The Guidance, Counselling and Monitoring Unit was established in the realization of the fact that Counselling and Monitoring has the potential of helping students and adult to examine themselves critically in order to understand “who they are”, how they feel about others, their interpersonal relationships, fear, value their choice of career and indeed the growth of integral personality. When students understand their limitation, they are able to plan adequately and solve problems.

    The Guidance, Counselling and Monitoring Unit believe that students are the life blood of any institution. Most undergraduates today are adolescents therefore; they are expected to be confronted with some biological and psycho-social concerns. These needs for personal fulfillment and social acceptance must be satisfied if a wholesome personality is to be attained.

    The Guidance, Counselling and Monitoring Unit assists students with variety of concerns ranging from stress management, adjustment to the University, difficulties in relationships, depression, anziety, anger, physical abuse, sexual abuse or rape, thought of suicide, loss of self-esteem, grief, trauma, sexual orientation and other feelings that can cause discomfort. Our role is to ensure that students feel comfortable and confident in their new environment. Therefore, we provide the following services:

    1. Individual counselling
    2. Group counselling
    3. Mentoring and supervision as required
    4. Referral as appropriate
    5. Information leaflets on variety of topics
    6. Consultative role for staff and students
    7. Provision of counselling assistance for students making career decisions and/or looking for students making career
    8. Maintenance of a resource library of general occupation information and records of private and public employers
    9. Organization of workshops and provision of career information, teaching of job-hunting skills and preparation of curriculum vitae.
    10. Arrangement and interview programme on campus for graduating students seeking full-time employment.

    Students/staff are guaranteed of high level of confidentiality in their dealings with this Unit.

    IDENTIFICATION, SCHOLARSHIP, LOANS AND BURSARIES UNIT

    This unit coordinates matters relating to Students Identity Cards, Scholarships, Loans and Bursaries for undergraduate students. It is the duty of this Unit to bring to the notice of students advertised scholarship in the Newspapers and other media.

    STUDENT ACTIVITIES’ UNIT

    This unit concentrates on all matters relating to student activities and welfare. The unit organizes elections into students’ groups and societies and relates to students’ representatives on a day to day basis. The Students Activities’ Unit also handles issues with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for graduating students. It also coordinates extra-curricular activities of students which include clubs and societies, sporting activities, election into Students’ Union Executives, Groups and Societies.

    NYSC MOBILIZATION UNIT

    The Unit is responsible for the co-ordination of the multi-staged processes required to mobilize students of the University for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. The Unit also offers assistance to students by providing necessary information and clarifications on matters of mobilization, remobilization and concessional posting. The Unit in addition entertains complaint from students on any matter that relates to the one-year compulsory scheme.

    STUDENTS WELFARE UNIT

    This Unit is statutorily responsible for activities that relate to the welfare of students irrespective of religion, ethnic, race or social affinity. The Unit handles all processes ranging from basic support on co-curriculum activities, verification of students’ particulars, inspection of recreation facilities for students, facilitation of protocols for delegates on university assignments to specific concerns for students with special needs.

    OFF CAMPUS BUREAU AND STATISTICS UNIT

    The Unit provides assistance to students seeking off-campus accommodation. It handles all matters relating to student/landlords’ conflict and other cases of off-campus misconducts.

    About OAUSTECH

    Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by the Ondo State government in 2008. It was initially named as Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).

    It is a technology-based institution, which aims at providing the needed manpower training for industrial and technological development of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole.
