PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
The disciplines of Science are the foundation of technological development and advancement with attendant contributions to national growth and development. The progress of science in recent years has been spectacular and the growth of chemical industries coupled with the training of professional Chemists has had an enormous influence on human life and National development.
The training of students revolves round the broad strategy of human resources development with its broader goals of social and political modernization. The Industrial Chemistry programme is involved in the training of quality Chemists that can be employed in chemical and allied industries, oil and gas, brewery, polymer and petrochemicals, food and beverage industries, research institutes, academics and self-employed thereby contributing to national development.
Our courses are structured to allow conglomeration of theoretical knowledge along with their applications in a growing scientific world thus emphasizing on the applications as well as theoretical aspects. This is intended to meet the current and future needs of Nigerian society.
These considerations lead to the concepts on which the following model curricula for Industrial Chemistry programme is structured.

PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the Department of Physical Sciences is its inclination to produce manpower with the necessary skills and expertise who will be great Geophysicists capable of meeting the challenges inherent in a rapidly changing world driven by increasingly sophisticated technologies, and is thus encapsulated in its quest and drive to design, implement, sustain and continuously build on some strategy for fulfilling its vision and mission in its task of providing standard Geophysics education of such a kind that enables it to fulfill its key role in the broader vision of OSUSTECH, Okitipupa.
The programme also aims at bringing together the ingredients necessary for a well-paid career as required in the mineral/oil industry and engineering/groundwater-related areas of the national economy and in the relevant government establishments. Opportunities for the attainment of academic excellence through effective teaching and research in all aspects of Applied Geophysics are also provided.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:
The highlights of the specific objectives, which guide the teaching of the theory, practice and applications of Geophysics, are presented as follows:
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL PROGRAMMES
All courses are of five years. Admission to all courses is mainly through the U.T.M.E.
(a) UTME Admission
Admission to 100 level is through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). To be eligible for admission, candidates must have the GCE (O/L) or WASSCE or NECO or equivalent with at least five credit passes in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science or Geography at NOT more than two (2) sittings.
U.T.M.E. Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
(b) Direct Entry
Candidates may be admitted to 200 level if they have:
PROGRAMME DURATION
A student should under normal circumstances spend five (5) academic sessions if he/she enters the University through UTME, and four (4) if through direct entry to obtain a Bachelor of Technology degree in Applied Geophysics. However, if the student fails to graduate at the end of the normal academic sessions, he/she would not be allowed to exceed a total of 14 semesters for UTME students and 12 semesters for direct entry students.
REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION
To be eligible for the award of B.Tech. in Applied Geophysics, a student is expected to have:

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the three pioneer programmes of the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology. It is a programme designed for completion in five years, leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Vision of the programme is to produce globally competent graduates that are well-equipped with in-depth technical knowledge and practice of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and possessing the capacity to address both national and international societal challenges. The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering started full academic activities in the 2017/2018 academic session and graduated its first set in the 2023/2024.
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department is fully equipped with teaching laboratory and workshop facilities such that are mandatory for training students in the science and the technology of electrical and electronics engineering. Both the academic and the technical staff of the department are qualified, vibrant and well experienced. Most of the academic staff are PhD degree holders, while there are few ones who are currently at different levels of completing the PhD. The department is currently headed by a Professor of Power System Resilience and Renewable Electric Microgrid.
The department operates academic curriculum that is tailored along the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standard (CCMAS) as stipulated by the National Universities Commission (NUC), as well as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) documents. These policy papers allow for the realization of the philosophy and objectives of the programme through proper utilization of facilities and equipment for teaching and research in the laboratories. At present, the department is fully ready to commence postgraduate studies in the three specializations of Power Systems, Instrumentation and Control, and Telecommunication.
