    Principals applaud VC for transforming OAUSTECH into global institution

    Two secondary school principals in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State have applauded the Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, for transforming the institution from local player to global institution of repute to meet the needs of its immediate environment.

    The principal of Igodan Lisa/Okunmo High School, Igodan Lisa, Mrs. Modupe Ayeomoni, and her counterpart at Erinje Grammar School, Ode-Erinje, Mrs. Florence Temitope Semoniwon, gave the commendations to Prof. Ologunorisa when OAUSTECH Public Relations team visited the schools on Tuesday, 29 November, 2022.

    The Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH had commissioned the institution's Directorate of Information, Protocol and Public Relations to visit the secondary schools in the area as part of his familiarization with the University's publics with a view to educating students as well as teachers on the various programmes OAUSTECH runs and its partnerships and collaborations with leading universities across the globe.

    The Erinje Grammar School principal said she was impressed with the height the University has attained in recent times, forging partnerships and collaborations with notable foreign institutions in various parts of the world, adding that she would continue to assist OAUSTECH in disseminating its messages to staff and students of the school.

    Mrs. Semoniwon, during the visit to the school, gathered members of staff for OAUSTECH PR team to address them. She stated that she was pleased that the institution is committed to meeting the needs of the host communities who are lovers of education, assuring that the various new programmes being mounted by the institution would be well subscribed in the coming session.

    Addressing the teachers at Erinje, OAUSTECH's Deputy Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Paul Adeagbo, informed them of the availability of Master's and Doctoral programmes in the institution's School of Science which the science teachers could apply for as the admission process was going on.

    He enumerated the courses as: Botany, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Microbiology, Zoology,(in the Department of Biological Sciences), Biochemistry Chemistry (in the Department of Chemical Sciences), Mathematics and Computer Science (in the Department of Mathematical Sciences), and Applied Geophysics (in the Department of Physical Sciences) leading to the award of Master degree (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

    Adeagbo added that OAUSTECH would admit students into its professional post-graduate programmes in the 2022/2023 academic session which would commence early next year. He listed the programmes as MBA, MPA, PGD, PGDE, professional masters in education, maritime studies, among others in order to develop the blue economy of the coastal region in which the institution is located.

    The Public Relations professional urged the teachers to continue to advise their students and wards to consider OAUSTECH as their first choice in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) as the University would give priority to candidates from the host communities.

    He added that his institution would start courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Geology, Bachelor of Nursing Science, besides the newly approved BSc Accounting, BSc Business Management, BSc Entrepreneurship and BSc Project Management in the University's School of Management Sciences in the 2022/2023 academic session.

    In a separate visit same day, the principal of the school at Igodan Lisa gave kudos to the VC for bringing about a dramatic change within a short time of his administration, introducing new courses and placing the University strategically on the international stage.

    Mrs. Ayeomoni, who was flanked by the school's vice-principal, Mrs. Olayinka Olatujoye, said the post-graduate programmes that OAUSTECH embarked upon would immensely benefit her teachers, whom she would advise to key into the golden opportunity created for them.

    She assured that she would mobilize her students to make OAUSTECH a first choice of institution because of the innovative programmes being introduced, as she appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and the PR team comprising Messrs Adeagbo and Rotimi Adekunle with Folasade Adesanoye for the visit.

    About OAUSTECH

    Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa was established by the Ondo State government in 2008. It was initially named as Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH).
